Comforting Them When They Have a Cold

There are many things you can do for your child to help them (and you) feel better. Start with these few tips, and consult a doctor if your child doesn't seem to be getting better.

  • Use a cool-mist humidifier in your child's room. This can help to moisten the air and clear your child's nasal passages. Be sure to clean the humidifier often.
  • To help thin your child's nasal mucus, use saline nose drops. Ask your pediatrician which ones to use.
  • Make sure your child gets plenty of rest and fluids.
  • Infants’ TYLENOL* or Children’s TYLENOL* can help reduce your child’s fever and ease aches and pains from a cold. Be sure to ask your doctor about the right dose before giving Infants’ TYLENOL* to your baby.

If you have children under the age of 6 years, do not use OTC cough cold medicines in such children.
